Secrets of Amber:
Even very early in history people were interested in amber. Since the Stone Age trade with amber from the rich deposits of the Samland Coast is documented. Small plants and animals have been preserved within the fossil resin of prehistoric forests. They reveal secrets of life 35 million years old. Since the late Middle Ages the most important centres of European art using amber have been Königsberg, Elbing und Danzig. The artists who worked on the famous amber room - given to the Russian Czar Peter the Great - came from these towns.

Goldsmith's Work and Ceramics:
The centre of East Prussian goldsmith's craft was Königsberg, the capital and residence. However, marvellous objects of art were also created in towns like Elbing, Marienburg, Tilsit, Braunsberg, Allenstein and Memel. Ceramic objects - which were produced in the workshops of Cadinen - founded in 1904 - are important for many East Prussian people because of their personal and their collector's value.
