Art and Artists:
The Academy of Arts, founded in 1845 in Königsberg, was the centre of
artistic and creative life. At the end of the 19th century well-known painters like
Max Pechstein settled at Nidden - a place on the Curonian spit of land. East Prussia's
most famous painter is Lovis Corinth.
In the graphic arts chamber works by artists like Käthe Kollwitz, who was born in
Königsberg, are presented in temporary exhibitions.
